GTK, NERVE and CORTEX for Disconnected Intelligence Teams

Local GEOINT ingest with GTK, source preservation and search with NERVE, and intelligence reporting with CORTEX. Product details and evaluation guidance.

A team working without an enterprise connection still needs to process its collection, check the supporting reports and issue an assessment. Those tasks involve different data and different controls. GTK, NERVE and CORTEX each cover a defined part of the work.

GTK handles geospatial processing. NERVE preserves and searches source material. CORTEX manages requirements, analysis, reporting and controlled release. The configuration and interfaces between them should be agreed for the intended deployment.

GTK: local GEOINT processing

GTK 2.0 is AIC’s deployable GEOINT platform for imagery, terrain, vector and sensor data. Its rapid multi-threaded ingest, metadata cataloguing, caching and geospatial indexing support exploitation of large collections. It can operate in disconnected environments without a mandatory external network dependency.

For a deployed team, the practical benefit is the ability to continue processing and inspecting geospatial material locally. An evaluation should use the formats, file sizes, storage and hardware expected in service. Record failed files as well as completed jobs, and distinguish ingest time from the time required to make a collection usable.

NERVE: source preservation and governed search

Reports, messages and structured records often supply the context missing from imagery. NERVE brings approved material into a common information model while preserving accepted originals and tracking transformation history. Source-specific detail and exact locators allow analysts to inspect a result and find its origin.

That matters when a report is challenged or a source is processed again. Check that earlier evidence references still resolve, that the original remains retrievable and that access restrictions hold across results, counts and facets. Connector and format support should be confirmed against your holdings.

CORTEX: requirements, analysis and reporting

CORTEX connects the intelligence requirement with collection, evidence, analysis, product generation, controlled dissemination and feedback. The analyst can retain the distinction between what a source reports, what the collection shows and what the assessment concludes.

A reviewer needs the dates, references and reasoning behind the report. The recipient needs an approved product suited to their access and purpose. Assess both workflows during evaluation, including conflicting reports, incomplete coverage and a recipient who cannot access the underlying sources.

GTK’s live security capabilities

GTK is secure by design and includes live PQC integration with ML-KEM for key encapsulation and ML-DSA for digital signatures, alongside double AES encryption. Disconnected operation and rapid multi-threaded ingest are also current capabilities.

Deployment planning should identify where the cryptographic controls apply and how keys are generated, stored and rotated. External interfaces, endpoints and handling policy remain part of the assurance work. Product capability and deployment accreditation are separate questions.

Evaluating the three products

Start with a reporting requirement and a representative set of approved sources. Agree the operating boundary, interfaces, identity and release rules. Then run the task with the enterprise connection disabled. Measure ingest completion, inspect rejected files and follow the resulting citations back to the source material.

Repeat the search with a restricted user. Reprocess one source. Ask a reviewer to inspect the assessment and check what an authorised recipient receives. These checks give the customer a basis for judging the configuration against its own work.

The accompanying fictional route-assessment case study describes how the roles fit together. It makes no claim of measured savings or a completed customer integration.
